I love cityscapes as much as I love seascapes. I spent a great deal of time researching the perfect location to capture the San Francisco Skyline from and all signs kept pointing to Yerba Buena island.
When I finally stepped foot on the island, I hiked up to the highest point I could get to, but was disappointed that the view was not what I was expecting. Google Earth could not have prepared me for the obstructed views I encountered. As I was heading for lower ground, one of the most stunning views of San Francisco hit me like a smack to the face, not that I would know what that feels like. I couldn’t believe I overlooked the most obvious spot when I got off the bus.
About a quarter mile up from the bus stop area, I discovered a small concrete ledge at the side of the road, suspended over the hill below, and completely hidden behind the roadside wall.
Watching the San Francisco skyline light up with beautiful golden hues, through the twilight hour, was the highlight of my entire trip.
